Lafarge Cement Malawi Donates Liquid Soap and Hand Sanitizer to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital to Help to fight the Coronavirus Pandemic
On the 24th April 2020, Lafarge Cement Malawi donated liquid soap and hand sanitizer to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital as part of Corporate Social Responsibility. This donation was done to help equip the staff at the hospital with some tools to mitigate the transmission of the Coronavirus within the hospital. The fact that regular hand washing and sanitization is the first line of defence in the prevention of transmission informed our decision to donate the liquid soap and hand sanitizer.
In his speech, the CEO, Geoffrey Ndugwa stated that “Lafarge Cement Malawi has been part of building Malawi for over 60 years and as country starts to experience the impact of the global pandemic, Covid-19, we thought it was important that we support the efforts of government to help fight the pandemic”.
He further explained that Blantyre City has been Lafarge's home for many years and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital has helped support the health needs of city for many years. As a central hospital, we are aware that the hospital is expected to be a key medical service provider in managing the pandemic.
Mr Gibson Ngwira, Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Administrator said he is so thankful to Lafarge for this donation and said it will help them a lot as a Hospital and urged other well wishers to do the same.
