Lafarge in Malawi

Background of Lafarge Cement Malawi

Lafarge Cement Malawi Limited is a subsidiary to the LafargeHolcim Group, a new leader for a new world. The company was initially known as Nyasaland Portland Cement. In 1996/97, the company which was then owned by the Government of Malawi through Malawi Development Corporation (MDC) was privatised and owned by two shareholders namely; the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) through a subsidiary called Pan African Cement Company (PAC) and MDC. In 2002 the Lafarge Group from France wholly acquired  the company and in 2015 Lafarge merged with Holcim.
